Activities
Vedanta believes the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of all religions. The work of the Vedanta Societies in the west has primarily been devoted to spiritual and pastoral activities. God, the underlying Reality, exists in every being. That is why many of them do some form of social service.
All the activities of Vedanta society of Toronto are based on Thakur Ramkrishna’s, Sarada Ma’s and Swamiji’s teachings. As we know Thakur’s message ‘Joto mot toto poth’ emphasizes the harmony of all religions. Ma Sarada says, ‘Bless us. Make us pure and all loving’ and as Swamiji says, “It is only by doing good to others that one attains one's own good”.
Beside religious lectures and celebrating festivals, in our Vedanta Society of Toronto, we are always trying to reach out to people by organizing different activities such as 'Soup kitchen', which we have been doing for last 20 years. We also organize other services such as 'Senior's day', 'Yoga day' and have classes on Vedic teachings at ‘Vidya mandir’ for young children amongst other things.
